This week, God has shown Himself to me in these ways:
- The kids and I had a nice Easter weekend, even though Dad is still working out of town. We kept the Christian radio station on all day on Good Friday and we heard so many neat songs and shows that talked about the Resurrection.
- My husband found and bought us a van. We got exactly what we wanted at the price we wanted. Thank you for Your provision, God. I wrote about this topic yesterday. (If you're interested.)
- I feel like God is encouraging me to become more bold and to stand up for the truth. So, I'll write the rest of the post about that.
A few nights ago, I was using the 25th prompt to pray - That my husband will be courageous in his stand against evil and injustice, that he will stand for the truth. As I was praying, I realized very quickly that I needed to pray for myself in this same area.
Ephesians 6:14 tells us to stand firm against evil with the belt of truth.
1 Corinthians 13:6 tells us that true love does not delight in injustice but rejoices with the truth.
However, if the truth brings about a lot of controversy, then that's hard for me to handle. I try to avoid controversy. I'm a "keep the peace" kind of woman. I've had 3 negative comments on my blog and I sure didn't like that. I know. That's what comment moderation is for. And I don't have to take the negative comments personally. Well, I'll be honest and admit that I did tone it down a bit when writing my posts.
I don't feel right about doing that though. I need to become more bold in writing about the truth. So, I've decided that if I feel prompted to write about something controversial like Pro-life or Creationism, then I'm going to do it. It's more important for me to obey God.
Those of you who agree, I would appreciate a quick prayer. I need God's strength with this. It seems to be an area in my Christian faith where the Lord wants me to grow. I'd like to encourage you to think about this and to stand and speak out for the truth, also. We have a wonderful opportunity to influence people through our blogs.
A few days ago, I noticed that Ben Stein has a new movie coming out April 18th called Expelled. The movie is going to expose the fact that educators and scientists are being ridiculed, denied tenure and even fired for believing that there might be evidence for creationism. Now that is standing against injustice and standing up for the truth. If Ben Stein can do it, then I can do it. And he has so much more to lose than I do.

Found you through Girlfriends in God (Patty)....
I too am a woman that does not like "controversy"...I prefer "peace" and will walk away or not say anything. But I'm like you, when it comes to the Word, we must be bold, not timid. So to get us prepared for that, we must stay in the Word and put on the "armour of righteousness"....

We all need to be more bold and unafraid of attack! We will be attacked, but as you said "it is better to obey God"! I'm with you and I will be praying for you! Pray for me too!!! The devil wants for us to be silent!
I am happy that God blessed you and your children with a great Easter. I know it is hard with your husband away! I am praising God with you for your new van. God can meet our needs above and beyond what we ask for!! I love Him!! I know another lady who had a mean comment left on her blog and it was upsetting to her and I have had a few myself but as long as we are writing and sharing what God lays on our hearts, as you said, better to obey God than please man!! I am proud of you for taking a stand! May God bless you and your children with a fun weekend and give you a delight!
Blessings,
Patty
I said a prayer for you girl! I love your writing. Thanks so much for the encouraging words that you left for me! I really needed that. I know what you mean about wanting things to stay peaceful. I am the same way, but you are right we can stand up for the truth and obey God and trust in HIM. Thanks for such an inspiring post. God Bless~
All who live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. I know it's discouraging to face opposition but God hasn't promised us all flowers and sunshine but trials and tough times as well. I hope you're staying encouraged. Look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
Standing up for truth is never easy. I'm so sorry to hear that you've had negative comments because I know how that would discourage me. But being obedient to God is more important, isn't it?
I agree, it's hard when one receives a mean comment, but at least you know they're reading. And the mean comment probably meant the commenter was feeling a little convicted. :)
Anyway, keep up the good work. It always amazes me that people have the nerve to make mean comments on someone else's blog. After all, it's your blog!
Ok, when I saw the soap box I got a little nervous, but after I read your post I loved it! I'm happy you had such a good Easter. And I'm praising God w/you for your van! He is so faithful to us and so careful to take care of us and I love it!!
I can really identify with you on what you said about the comments on your blog. I tend to be a peace maker too, and I find I really have ahard time standing up for wht I believe when I know I am going to get a lot of flack for it. The war is on, and Satan will use these weaknesses against us if we let him, but we are to be the light in the darkness of his deceptions.

God bless you for your inspiring post and so so true...By being afraid to share the Gospel of Our Heavenly Father we are bearing bad testimony as well to our trust in Him so how can we share that with others that they should trust Him too?
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers and just thank you for making that stand here with your compelling post!
I know there are many times I would second guess myself if I should post something or not and would be SO SO worry about rejection and forget the urgings of the very scripture that you shared, that:
Ephesians 6:14 tells us to stand firm against evil with the belt of truth.
1 Corinthians 13:6 tells us that true love does not delight in injustice but rejoices with the truth.
I laugh with silliness at myself when I think, my favorite verse is "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all." Isaiah 7:9
Yet I'm sitting here worried about rejection, ostracization or negative comments. LOL
How must our Lord chuckle at us for our doubts!
